Dr. Bibha Mukherjee, retired professor of Morgan State University, died on May 23, 2007 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband Dr. Kanailal Mukherjee, two daughters: Anuradha and Arundhuti, son Aseet and six grandchildren.
Born in May 1926 in India, Dr. Bibha Mukherjee received her Masters degree in Geography from Calcutta University in 1946 and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1964. Altogether she spent 50 years in teaching.
Dr. Bibha Mukherjee was a person of great wisdom and knowledge. Her love for knowledge and her dedication to the Hindu culture shifted the center of her consciousness from the limitations of the personal self to the vastness of the real self. She was self disciplined, pure at heart, and even tempered. With senses under control, she attained serenity and tranquility of the mind. She achieved professional success and touched the lives of countless people. She was loved and respected by all who came in touch with her.
